Once you come out of the woods above Roseys Café the trail into Wengen is paved. Your other choice for getting up from the valley floor would be to walk all the way from Steckelberg into Lauterbrunnen (easy flat walking) and take the main trail from Lauterbrunnen up to Wengen. Uphill about 1 1/2 hrs. You’ll need to bear in mind that there are no cars in Mürren, so you’ll have to either walk, get the bus or train back to Lauterbrunnen. Route map: L auterbrunnen to Mürren. Lauterbrunnen – Wengen – Kleine Scheidegg. If you’re up for a big day, then you could always head on this hike through Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg. Add at least one more night. In Wengen, you can walk from the station straight into the village and it's flat whereas Murren is a little hilly and involves a bit of a walk from the train into the village centre.
